Reus Transport

This is the pubic company in charge of public buses in Reus.
Since its foundation, Reus Transport has made available to the citizens of Reus a punctual, efficient, comfortable and reliable municipal public transport.
The Reus City Council's commitment to public transport has yielded more than positive results. The municipal company Reus Transport Público works with a good performance. The large number of users who take the bus daily to move from one side of the city to the other confirms this.
Their staff is immersed in a continuous training process, the basic purpose is the constant improvement of the service for their clients and users.
Last year, a pilot system started to run buses without a driver for some of the routes. For other routes which are not very common, there is a smart system that prevents buses to go to remote bus stops if there is nobody waiting in order to save time.

From the beginning of the creation of the company, it has opted for investment in technology, both on board the buses and from the Reus Transport control center.
Surveillance cameras, capacity sensors, card readers and entry and exit counting, ramps and hydraulic lifts for people with reduced mobility, etc. have been installed on the buses.
At the same time, the on-board GPS sends a situation signal in real time, in addition to sending speed, occupation, and physical condition of the driver to a central computer, which analyzes this information and displays it on a map that users can consult from web applications and apps. This means that the citizen can know exactly where the bus is and the waiting time at each stop along the route.

Accessibility

SAE is a global system, which integrates equipment at 4 different levels:
1. On-board of the bus - a computer, GPS, sensors controlling passengers flow, bus card readers, sensors controlling the health indicators of the drivers, communication panel with the Control Centre, security cameras etc.;
2. Information panels around all the city with a detailed information of bus lines, times and frequencies;
3. The Control Centre monitoring the exact position of each bus at real time, health indicators of each bus driver as well as the state of the fleet. By means of Scada system an operator of the Control Centre can make easy decisions and provide incidents solving in real time.
4. Through data analysis (Big Data) and real time communication using Business Intelligence, tons of data are collected and processed at every moment and a summary report is published in internet, which allows the public to consult all the information concerning city mobility (bus arrivals, parking spaces available, etc.) either through a website or an App.
