European Green Deal 2019-2024

Learn about the good practices for the common goal of improving the environment in which we live. Raise awareness on the fact that also the single action of one person is important for the environment.

As we have seen in the previous notion, everybody is responsible for taking care of our environment.
In response to the climate change at European level, the European Commission adopted European Green Deal. It’s a set of policy initiatives aimed at making Europe a fair and prosperous society with sustainable economy and climate neutrality (net-zero greenhouse gas emissions) by 2050.
To achieve its goals it covers 8 policy areas:

  • Energy
  • Climate
  • Agriculture
  • Industry
  • Environment
  • Transport
  • Finance
  • Innovation

The deal is not a legislation but rather a roadmap for what needs to be done in order to become sustainable. Some achievements have been done within each of the 8 areas mentioned above and several strategy papers were published. They include food production, biodiversity preservation, and industrial and digitalization policies, considered the pillars of the Green Deal. For example:
