Non-verbal communication includes mainly body language, but also tone of voice, pauses in conversation, interpersonal distance, clothing and many other elements. Non-verbal communication expresses our emotions and the relationship we want to have with our interlocutor on a deep emotional level.
Non-verbal communication is faster, less conscious and less controllable than verbal communication. Non-verbal reactions to an event tend to be immediate and occur before it can be rationally assessed.
When a meeting is taking place, for example, it is good to use correct postures, which reflect your behaviour, intention and interest.
