Being aware of the difficulties we can encounter when trying to have and more inclusive use of digital in a company.

A company that comes closest to an inclusive work environment has several elements such as

  • The employee feels valued and accepted.
  • The company focuses on the learning and development of its employees.
  • The work environment is conducive to interaction.
  • The work environment is adapted to all employees.
  • The management listens.
  • Feelings of commitment and trust are present.

"Social norms are often the biggest barrier to inclusion."

On the other hand, the notion of inclusion within a team also has its challenges.
The main barriers to inclusion are

  • Physical barriers. Is the work environment accessible to all?
  • Discrimination in hiring is prohibited. In this sense, avoid listing requirements that disqualify some candidates.
  • Behavioural barriers. Is there favouritism in terms of promotion, salary increases and contracts within the company?
  • Social barriers. Economic disparity can be a barrier to socialising with colleagues outside working hours.
